My interpretation of the Balrog, Durin’s Bane from Lord of the Rings. I stuck a bit to the movie’s look, but made him a bit more bat like and more smoke than fire. Think Smaug is next. “You shall not pass!”

As you may or may not know, it’s World Book Day tomorrow. Usually in school, we’re allowed to dress up as a book character, and the best outfit wins something crap like a box of chocolates.
This year, we were told we weren’t allowed to dress up, and could only wear a hat. Obviously, we were all pissed off and said we wouldn’t bother. But then they told us that the best hat would win a kindle. So I present…The Eye of Sauron: Hat Edition. Ready to be attached to an alice band.

A month ago a project called lotrproject started placing every character from Tolkien’s works into a single giant family tree. The project has now progressed to include over 800 characters and is continuously being updated and improved.
